About

Hi, I’m Danny

and here’s my story

Just an average Korean American millenial living in Japan!

Ever since I moved to Japan, I’ve had a growing passion for travel and exploring new places. This passion grew into a burning desire to break free from the 9 to 5 and travel the world while showcasing its incredible wonders. So in 2020, I decided to take the initiative and start a Youtube Channel about travel.

In the middle of a global pandemic.

great.

However, that didn’t get me down. On the contrary, it fueled my desire to believe in the goal and succeed.

For the first couple of months, we made occasional trips nearby (as safely as possible!) and started to develop our skills in photography, visual storytelling, and vlogging. All the while staying committed to my full time job as a Data Scientist.

And on May of 2021, I decided to take a leap of faith.

I quit my job and embarked on a journey across Japan

by bicycle.

Photocycling Across Japan

is what I decided to call this journey.

It’s slow backpacking with a heavy focus on capturing the beauty along the way and documenting the journey.

With Photocycling Across Japan, it doesn’t mean that I’ve escaped the 9 to 5 yet (traveling on savings), but it’s a huge step towards it.

My goal with this journey is to discover and showcase the hidden gems across Japan, while also proving that anything is possible.

Why the name Kuma Station?

In case anyone’s curious, the name Kuma Station was inspired by my girlfriend who loves bears.

Kuma means bear in Japanese and this is our platform!

She makes appearances in our videos from time to time.
